My Story: How and Why I Started DealPinning

Income Reports: The Catalyst for Change Seeing some of the outrageous income reports from successful bloggers made my eyes turn into dollar signs. The stories of bloggers making tens of thousands per month really inspired me. It was the perfect motivator, especially since I had no desire to join the corporate world. This passion, coupled with the urge to be my own boss, was the big push I needed.

By education, I’m a bank officer, but somewhere along the way, I transitioned into blogging and affiliate marketing. How did that happen?

The Unexpected Journey Towards the end of high school, I had no clue what I wanted to do with my life, so I went with the safe option: banking. It’s what most sensible people do, right? But when you’re in your late teens or early twenties, you get desperate for a stable income, something that will allow you to break free from your parents’ house and make big life decisions.

While I was in college, I knew I didn’t want to enter the corporate world. So, I started exploring ways to earn an income outside of the 9-to-5 grind.

The Early Days I began with YouTube, though I wasn’t serious about it. After what felt like ages, I earned $5.81—hardly the breakthrough I was hoping for. The camera-shy side of me couldn’t fully commit, so I pivoted to Instagram, hoping to earn by building a large following. I did manage to get 10k followers, but the results were minimal, and I wasn’t seeing the returns I was expecting.

Then I stumbled across blogging and discovered a wildly successful blogger who earned over $100,000 per month from her blog.

A Game-Changer Moment A hundred thousand dollars in a single month? That blew my mind! Right then and there, I decided to start my own blog, despite having no prior experience or knowledge of the field. The idea of affiliate marketing was too powerful to ignore.

I launched my site without a clear topic in mind, but I knew I wanted to focus on affiliate marketing and helping others do the same. I started with a mix of beauty, wellness, and fitness niches.

The Turning Point There was a point when I had to choose between applying for jobs (because major companies were hiring) and continuing to work on my blog, which was still earning very little. I told myself I wouldn’t apply for a single job unless my site was approved by Mediavine, a major ad network for marketers, before a certain date.

And guess what? On May 9th, 2019, I was approved by Mediavine as an exclusive member of their network. It felt like a full-circle moment!

That was a pivotal day in my blogging career. From there, my income steadily grew, and I began publishing my own income reports to track the progress of my blog for my audience.

Where I Am Today Now, DealPinning.com receives over a million visitors every year, and I’m making a full-time income from the blog (and then some!). What started as a dream has turned into a thriving business.
